I’m Britt, and I love my bike. I really do. Just ask any of my friends, or my long suffering boyfriend.

My love affiar with cycling began on a very hot, sunny and hungover day in August 2013, when I decided to drag myself out of bed to go and cheer the first every Prudential Ride100. As I saw the bikes and cyclists whizzing past me with huge smiles on their faces, I thought ‘Well, this cycling lark looks like a bit of a laugh’ and the very next day signed up my Dad, best friend and myself to the next years race.

It was then that a few things dawned on me:

  1. I didn’t own a bike.
  2. I hadn’t been on a bike for over 10 years.
  3. 100 miles is a really, really long way.
  4. I’d watched the elite cyclists go past.

So there I was. Bike-less facing the prospect of cycling 100 miles in less than 8 hours. But still very enthusiastic. It was then that I completely fell in love with cycling. I started commuting to work on a hybrid Trek (otherwise known as Geoffrey) and slowly started building up my miles.

It’s now a year on, and I’m still just as in love with cycling as I was when I cycled down Kentish Town Road for the first time. I’ll be blogging about all things cycling; nutrition, endurance cycling, the joys of padded shorts, energy gels, commuting in London, the Surrey Hills and training for the Ride100 again…
