The Cycling Tube Map

The London Cycle Network and Route Plan Roll have today launched something pretty clever: a cycling tube map of London.

A familiar site to us Londoner’s eyes, the map is in the style of the iconic London tube map. The design shows how the various superhighways, quiet routes and orbital routes connect up across the city in a simple and effective way.

The map also shows which parks allow cycling (fewer than you think), the areas the Santander cycle hire scheme covers and it cleverly tells you how many minutes London’s districts are from Blackfriars station.

What a neat little thing! I for one am often left perplexed when cycling in London, and this is quite a handy visualization of where the various cycle lanes and pathways take you. Anything that helps sensible route planning is a thumbs up in my book.
